ABOUT ANDREW LARA CERVANTES
Storytelling has been a part of life for Andrew Lara Cervantes for as long as he can he remember. He grew up hearing tales invented by his grandmother and father. They encouraged him to explore his imagination and create worlds of his own.
Starting out with poetry and short story, he found and fell in love with Theater and Film thanks to East Side Queer Stories. As part of the inaugural class, he wrote Babe, which has been produced as part of several short play festivals, and received the LGBT Hero Award for outstanding group production.
In 2020, Andrew Lara Cervantes wrote and produced his first short film as part of Outfest Fusion. His film, Consent, was a labor of love produced with AmorOsos Media. It received the Jury Prize and was added to the Outfest schedule. Consent has been part of 4 film festivals and continues to get recognized.
Everyday he is thankful to be able to create and tell stories that represent his culture and communities.
